I am a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Health, Society, & Behavior at the Joe C. Wen School of Population and Public Health at the University of California, Irvine. I specialize in applied microeconomics, with research at the intersection of environmental, urban, and health economics. At UCI, I contribute to several large, NIH-funded collaborative projects that analyze the universe of U.S. birth, fetal death, and infant death records—along with Danish administrative register data—to study selection in utero, racial inequities in fetal and neonatal mortality, the consequences of structural disadvantage, and the societal and health implications of postponed childbearing. My other current projects examine how local political representation, hospital privatization, and neighborhood business closures shape maternal and infant health, as well as how political protests affect crime.
